Q1: There are always two sides to a conscience. What would Rodger’s conscience be telling him?

his conscience would be telling him to get in the water and save that person because he knows deep inside himself that to save the person would be the right thing to do. by saying that the water is too cold and that he might get his good clothes wet is only making excuses.

Q2: Think of an example of Jesus’ teachings and explain how his teachings can help us to make an appropriate decision?

One teaching that i think is relevant to the situation Rodger finds himself in is to love thy neighbour as you would love yourself. If you treat yourself with respect you should do likewise to your neighbour.

Journal 14:

Beatitudes
Beatitude Values
Beatitudes For Today

1. How blessed are the poor in spirit; the kingdom of God is theirs.
Putting trust in God not things.
Blessed are you in your poverty; you are not shut in the false world of convention, riches and human security.

2. Blessed are the gentle: they shall have the earth as their inheritance.
Mercy and forgiveness.
Blessed are you because you are gentle, you refuse violence and aggression.

3. Blessed are those who mourn; they shall be comforted.
Patient suffering and enduring hardships reap their reward.
Blessed are you, for when you are sad, someone will be there to comfort you.

4. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for uprightness; they shall have their fill.
Getting involved, helping the downtrodden, working for the equality of people.
Blessed are you because you hunger and thirst for justice; your heart beats in the rhythm of the heart of Jesus.

5. Blessed are the merciful; they shall have mercy shown to them.
Humility in all we do; nonviolence.
Blessed are you because you are merciful, you attach your heart to misery; you will receive mercy.

6. Blessed are the pure in heart: they shall see God.
Loving with one’s whole heart, whole mind, whole soul.
Blessed are you because your heart is pure; you don’t accept compromises.

7. Blessed are the peacemakers; they shall be recognized as children of God.
Peacemaking; loving those who are hard to love.
Blessed are you because at all times and at every moment you want to be an instrument of peace; seeking reconciliation above all things.

8. Blessed are those who are persecuted In the course of uprightness; the kingdom of heaven is theirs.
Being willing to suffer for the right thing even if abused physically or verbally; accepting the consequences of living a good life.
Blessed are you because you have allowed your own conscience to develop; you have accepted persecution; you have not been afraid to proclaim the truth

Journal 11:

Q1: Describe the term ‘interactive TV’?

Interactive TV is television that allows the viewer to interact with the television set in ways other than controling the channel flow, volume and handling videotapes. Interactive TV is what is known today as FOXTEL IQ or just subscribed FOXTEL.

Q2: Explain the reasons why Interactive TV is now called TV 2.0

The reason why Interactive TV is now called TV 2.0 is because the things you watch on TV are more commonly chosen on the Internet. You can subscribe to different networks on the Internet and depending on the size of your package, the more channels you will get to choose from. Another reason why it is called TV 2.0 is because the company Broadband is giving the option of choosing when you want to watch something and how you want to watch it.

Q3:Outtline the positives and negatives of Interactive television?

3 Positives are:

You can permanenlty own a television show or movie.

Interactive TV is more modern and more high-definition.

You get to choose when you want to watch something and how you want to watch it.

3 Negatives are:

This will lead to people watching more TV.

Interactive TV will cost more if you want more TV.

Interactive TV only works in Broadband.

Q4: Apple released recently Apple TV - Take 2. Describe the reasons why it needed to be changed.

Some reasons why it needed to be changed is that it is too costly, the downloads might not work sometimes and the fact that many people might not be faithful enough to make the switch, which is one of the good things about Apple TV, it is more persuasive.

Journal 10:

Q1: Explain the purpose of using ‘youtube’ as a source of digital media advertising?

The purpose of using youtube as a source of digital media advertising is because over the last 5-10 years youtube has become increasingly popular, so if a company or organisation wishes to advertise its products on a global level, youtube is their answer. The purpose of using youtube is that you can also use different types of media, making it aesthetically more appealing.

Q2: Discuss how collaborative media sites such as youtube, myspace and bebo have changed the current boundaries of media such as news, advertising, etc.

The boundaries have been changed because if you see half of the news of TV, you can simply go and download the news on youtube, because not everyone gets the priviledge of being home at 6:00 to watch it. This is more convienient for lots of people. The advertising part of it is that on TV, ads are only 30-60 seconds, whereas on bebo, myspace and youtube, adevertisments can go for several minutes.

Q3: Provide a link to an advertisig commercial on youtube:

Journal 9:

Q1: Define the term ‘digital media’

The term digital media means that any type of information in a digital format, which includes computer-generated text, graphics and animations, photographs and image generation. Digital media involves a wide variety of complicated ways to present data and information.

Q2: How has digital media evolved over the last 5-10 years?

Well, this is easily summed up by the image above, which states that there are 5 billion instant messages sent daily, and there are 1.8 billion emails also sent daily. This is because of remote/digital education, where the modern technology is being learnt all over the world, and it is expanding at a phenomenal rate, and a demographic trend that is expected to continue.

Q3: Discuss the reasons why digital magazines are extremely popular?

One reason why digital magazines are so popular is because you don’t have to subscribe to the newspaper organisation, which costs money, you can just log on to their website and read their articles on the internet, which is cheaper. Another reason why digital magazines are so popular is because the regular, printed newspaper is limited to only a few varieties of media, whereas digital magazines can have animations, etc included in them.

Q1: Discuss what you would do in these situations:

a) I would take a description of the people and take a mental note of what nationality they are. I would also help the ethnic man after the people are finished, because the people showed no moral maturiy by letting their emotions get the better of them.

b) I would tell her that she is crazy that she would suggest to start a riot just because she is BORED. I would also say that she’s completely insane and leave.

Journal 6:

Q1: Define the term ‘moral maturity’

To be morally mature means that you don’t let emotion effect your thinking, so if you get hit for six bowling in a game of cricket, to be morally mature you will forget about that delivery and focus on the next one. To be morally mature you can also participate in the social world, which means that you can understand others, and vice versa.

Q2: Discuss the reasons why the 25 year old man would lack ‘moral maturity’

The reason why i think that the 25 year old man was morally immature because he let his emotions get the better of him, and this is proved by him spitting on police and resisting arrest.

Q3: Identify the differences between morality and immorality

Morality is the concern with the distinction with right and wrong, or good and evil. This also means that the person who has qualities of morality is generally a cautious person and will think things through beforehand. Immorality is the quality of not being in accord with standards of right or good conduct, or in other words, the opposite of morality.

Q4: Watch the following clip and describe the reasons why Govenor Spitzer’s actions would be regarded as immoral

The reason why Govenor Spitzer’s actions would be considered immoral because he knew what he was doing was wrong and failed to accept the fact that if anyone found out who he was, his job would be in serious jeopardy. This, to me is failing to consider the consequences. Another reason why it is immoral is because he pretended to be someone else, to cover up his true identity.

Moral Development Theory:

Q1: What is a ‘Moral development theory?’

A moral development theory is a field of psychology and also is a field of education, which schools do to help the moral development of the youth in their schools. The psychologists who work on moral development study the activities of the kids and see what their beliefs of right and wrong are. Another way psychologists can detect levels of moral development are by their application to rules within a game, where the kid who has no understanding of what a fair rule is and how to distinguish those from unfair rules.

Q2: Research th following 3 moral development theories:

a) Lawrence Kohlbrg’s moral development theory on moral reasoning is much more extensive than that of Piaget’s. Kohlberg’s theory begins with six stages of moral reasoning in 3 major levels, with each level representing a major shift in the moral perspective of the individual.

b) Jean Piaget’s moral development theory on contemporary theories is one of the first who’s work is relevent to these studies. Like Kohlberg’s theory, Piaget specialised in the maral development of kids and determining what level these kids were at. He studied the way they played games to find the children’s beliefs about right and wrong. Piaget believes that their actions displayed they way the kids thought deep down, and how they would construct their knowledge with interactions with the environment.

c) Sharon Parks’ moral development theory is about the spiritual development of children and also with adolescents. Being a theologian, Parks was selected to participate in the interviewing of 359 kids, with which they based their spiritual development theories on.
